Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment: Baroquebusters

Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment: Baroquebusters

7:30PM, Tuesday, February 04, 2025

Venue: Darlington Hippodrome

The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) returns with another feast of hits by the most famous composers of the 18th Century. Discover why music by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and other composers of the time became so popular and has remained so to this day. Even if you don’t know the titles you probably know the tunes… from adverts to the Eurovision final this music is still part of the soundtrack to our daily lives. Presented from the stage, the musicians of the OAE will guide you through an evening of music they love including the ‘Air on the G String’ by Bach, ‘Rejoice’ from Handel’s Messiah, concertos for two cellos by Vivaldi and for two violins by Bach, Charpentier’s Te Deum, music from King Arthur by Purcell and more. You’ll also get to hear how students from local schools have been inspired by this evening’s music as part of our Darlo Creates project, as they perform with the Orchestra to get the concert off to a smash-hit start!
