Free AD ticket offer

Audio Described ticket offer

Darlington Hippodrome is offering FREE theatre tickets to blind and visually impaired audience members this Summer and Autumn, to give people a chance to try their new and improved audio description service, which now includes a FREE touch tour.

Darlington Hippodrome recently refreshed their audio description service to create a better experience for audiences. The services utilises state of the art headphone style receivers, which customers use in their seats in any area of the auditorium, to listen to a description of the action on stage as it happens. Prior to each of the audio described shows, audience members can attend a FREE touch tour of the stage and set, led by our audio describer, where they’ll often get to meet some of the cast and learn about the set design and layout, and touch some of the props or costume items. FREE essential companion tickets are also offered as well as a guide dog sitting service.

Darlington Hippodrome reopened in November 2017 after an extensive restoration which has transformed the building to now include a café bar, galleries and lift access to all three seating levels.

One FREE ticket is offered to anyone who is blind or visually impaired at a choice of one of the below shows:

The Lady Vanishes, Saturday 19th October, 2.30pm show, 1pm touch tour

David Walliam’s Billionnaire Boy, Saturday 9th November, 2.30pm show, 1pm touch tour
